Virtual WESNET

Funding Source:
Australian Government - Office for Women
Timeframe:
Jun 2008 - May 2009
Aims and Objectives:

 The objectives of the Virtual WESNET project are to:

  1. significantly improve the communication between WESNET and its membership, thereby harnessing women’s voices on domestic and family violence issues across Australia;
  2. enable WESNET to manage its own website content; and

  3. establish an online professional community of practice, VirtualWESNET, which will provide a valuable source of support and opportunities for professional development for members of the Domestic and Family Violence workforce.

The revamped website and development of an online forum will enable WESNET to provide information to, and share information with, its membership through an online community. The virtual community will provide a place for workers in Women’s Services to seek mentorship and peer support from colleagues who are spread across Australia.

Description:

WESNET has received a Government grant under the 2007-08 Women's Leadership and Development Program to refurbish its website and create a new forum for its members to discuss issues relating to prevention and elimination of violence.

WESNET attends VW trainingWESNET Committee members attended training in Sydney on 27 March to learn how to use the new content management system that underpins the new website.  From now on, WESNET can control and update its own content.
